Varsity Inks Memorandum Of Understanding With Foundation For Advancement Of Arts & Sciences From India (ARSI)
To Plan & Organize Academic And Scientific Endeavors And Host Eminent External Experts

Varanasi, 12.07.2023: Banaras Hindu University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the US-based “Foundation for Advancement of Arts and Sciences from India (ARSI)” to promote teaching/research in Mathematical Sciences in the varsity. BHU has received a sum of Rs, Fifty Lakh as part of the understanding. Prof Ravi signed the MoU. S. Kulkarni, President, ARSI, and Ex-Director, Harish Chandra Research Institute, Prayagraj, and Professor Arun Kumar Singh, Registrar, Banaras Hindu University. The endowment received from ARSI will be used to support study and research in Mathematics, particularly with participation of external (national and international) scholars. This will include, inviting renowned scholars as Visiting Professors, Scholar-in-campus, or Adjunct Professors for a specified duration, and hosting of international scholars at BHU for short, medium, and long-term visits for lectures, seminars and other scholarly endeavors. Prof. Bankteshwar Tiwari, DST-Centre for Interdisciplinary Mathematical Sciences, informed that a part of this money will be utilized in organizing lecture series/ training programs/other academic activities in Mathematical Sciences at BHU in cooperation with The Mathematics Consortium (TMC).

ARSI President Professor Kulkarni, who visited BHU a number of times, said he has great affection for Banaras Hindu University and was deeply impressed with the nation-building vision of Mahamana through education. With the active association of Prof. Kulkarni, The Centre for Interdisciplinary Mathematical Sciences, Institute of Science, BHU, organized a grand International conference of ‘The Mathematics Consortium’ in cooperation with American Mathematical Society under its centennial celebration of establishment. In May 2022 Prof Kulkarni visited BHU and expressed the foundation’s desire for the endowment donation and to collaborate with the university to promote the teaching/research in Mathematical Sciences, which has now taken shape of the MoU.
