CUO to organise International Conference on “Women in the 21st Century: Environment and Sustainable Development”

The Department of Sociology, Central University of Odisha Koraput in collaboration with the World Centre for Women’s Studies (WCWS), is organizing a three-day 9th Annual Conference on the theme “Women in the 21st Century: Environment and Sustainable Development” on December 7-9, 2023. The conference sub-themes are Women, Nurture the Nature Across the Globe, Gender and Environment in Literature, Film and Theatre, Women and Environmental Movements – Policy Perspectives, Women and Sustainable Development. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Chakradhar Tripathi, conveys his best wishes for a successful conference.

A special session will be on War: Women, Environment – Testimony. The Department of History and Institute of European Culture, Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan, Poland, will conduct this special session online.

Around 70 papers covering the various themes and sub-themes will be presented at the conference. Around 30 participants covering abroad and from India will present papers in the physically mode while the rest of the participants will join the conference through online mode.

Dr. Kapila Khemundu, Associate Professor and HoD, Dept. of Sociology, and Dr. Barbara Wejnert, President, World-CWS, University at Buffalo, New York, USA, is the organizing Secretary of the Conference. Prof. B. C. Barik, a distinguished scholar of Sociology and former Vice-Chancellor of Sambalpur University, took the initiative to organize this conference at the Central University of Odisha. The Convenors of the conference and faculty members of the Department of Sociology welcome the delegates to the Central University of Odisha Campus.
