UGC Announces Vigilance Awareness Week 2023

UGC Vigilance Awareness Week 2023

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a letter to various educational institutions across the country, announcing the Vigilance Awareness Week 2023. This initiative, led by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), India’s apex integrity institution, aims to promote transparency, and accountability in governance, and fight corruption. The theme for this year is “Say no to corruption; commit to the Nation”.

The UGC has outlined six preventive vigilance measures to be implemented during a three-month campaign period from 16th August 2023 to 15th November 2023. These measures include awareness building on PIDPI resolution, capacity building, identification and implementation of systemic improvements, leveraging of IT for complaint disposal, updation of circulars/guidelines/manuals, and disposal of complaints received before 30.06.23.

The Vigilance Awareness Week will be observed from 30th October 2023 to 5th November 2023. During this week, institutions are encouraged to engage in various activities such as taking an integrity pledge, conducting competitions, workshops, seminars, outreach programs, grievance redressal camps, vendor meets, etc. These activities aim to involve employees, citizens, students, and other stakeholders in the fight against corruption.

The UGC has requested all educational institutions to submit a report on the preventive vigilance measures and Vigilance Awareness Week activities to the CVC and UGC by 8th December 2023. The letter also provides annexures with formats, guidelines, posters, and other relevant information.
