New Delhi: The Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI), an organization setup to provide skilled workforce for the Electronics industry, today announced the appointment of Dr. Abhilasha Gaur as its new Chief Operating Officer (C0O). Dr. Abhilasha is an accomplished professional with vast experience in the Skill Development eco-system. She would be responsible for overseeing the operations of ESSCI, and will work closely with its Governing Council on strategic issues related to the growth of the Electronic Systems Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) industry in India.
Dr. Abhilasha Gaur is a hard-core management practitioner with 18 years of experience in Business Development, Execution of Government Projects and Implementation of various initiatives in Skill development, Corporate and academics. She brings with her an excellent combination of domain knowledge, and operational experience.
ESSCI is a strong contributor to fulfilling the skilling needs of the vibrant ESDM sector in India. We work closely with industry, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and the Ministry of Skill Development, and our line Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) to provide both skilling and re-skilling services to the industry. Over the years, we have successfully skilled over a million professionals for the ESDM industry and have a wide footprint across India.
Dr. Ajai Chowdhry, Chairman, ESSCI and Founder HCL said: “Our search for the new COO was focused on ensuring we have the right leadership to achieve all our goals for the ESDM sector. We are also looking at raising the bar for skill development for this sector, so as to achieve global quality training, and make it available in India. Commenting on her new role, Dr. Abhilasha Gaur said: “The government of India is focusing on design and manufacturing electronics hardware within India, which seems to be the conceptual origin for both the Make in India and the Digital India programmes. These initiatives encourage domestic manufacturing and exports across the electronics system design and manufacturing (ESDM) value chain, aiming to achieve a market size of US$ 251 billion by 2023. ESSCI will play an important role to fulfil the demand of skilled workforce for the same. I am fortunate and excited for this opportunity to work with the industry leaders and policymakers in the ESSCI Governing Council, and hope to significantly contribute to this national cause with their guidance and leadership.”

ESSCI is a not-for-profit company headquartered in New Delhi. It was formed by the six industry associations representing the ESDM sector – ELCINA, MAIT, IESA, IPCA, CEAMA, LEDMA and ELCOMA. It was formed under a mandate from the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and has been closely working with the nodal ministry for the sector, the Ministry for Electronics and IT, as well as with industry and academia.
