In line with the new National Education Policy-2020, the Central Government is taking proactive steps to enhance speaking, reading, understanding, and writing skills among elementary students, particularly those who speak Kui and Desia languages. To achieve this goal, a five-day National Workshop that aims to prepare learning materials for the targeted students in the states of Odisha, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand, will be conducted at the Central University of Odisha from May 29, 2023, to June 2, 2023. This workshop, jointly organized by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi; Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar; and the Central University of Odisha, Koraput.
The primary objective of the workshop is to develop and provide learners and teachers with valuable learning materials that facilitate oral language development, as well as enhance reading and writing skills specifically for Kui and Desia-speaking learners. Esteemed professionals leading this endeavor, who will supervise the workshop proceedings
include Prof. Dinesh Prasad Saklani, Hon’ble Director of NCERT; Prof. Chakradhar Tripathy, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Odisha; and Prof. Basanta Kumar Panda, Director, Odia Classical Language Centre.
Prominent members expected to grace the occasion include Dr. Mahendra Kumar Mishra, Prof. Gopabandhu Mohanty, Dr. Parmanand Patel, Dr. Rajendra Padhi, Dr. Kapil Khemundu, Dr. Rudrani Mohanty, Dr. Govind Chandra Pendei, Suresh Khara, Sana Santa, Trinath Khara, Somnath Amanatya, Geetanjali Pujari, Narayan Majhi, Govind Kumjharia, Surendra Tanti, and Shivshankar Patnaik.
This collaborative effort between educational institutions and renowned experts signifies a significant step towards promoting inclusive education and empowering students who speak Kui and Desia languages. The workshop’s outcomes will contribute to a comprehensive and effective learning environment that fosters the overall development of these students, equipping them with the necessary skills for academic success and future endeavors.
